Raisin
Male
Age: November 2020 Weight: 3.4 kg
A kind woman found little Raisin running disoriented through the Arroyo del Indio (dry river bed) in Bucerías. She brought him to safety and posted online hoping to find his owners — but sadly, no one came forward. Thankfully, we were able to bring Raisin into our rescue and start giving him the care he needs.
He does have a few medical challenges. His left eye is cloudy, and while it was first thought he might be blind, we’ve seen this before — and with daily eye drops, we’re hopeful his vision will improve. His bloodwork looks good, but he did test positive for heartworm. The good news is that our vet has successfully treated another dog in our care, and Raisin will be following the same proven protocol — starting with a month of antibiotics before moving on to the injections.
Raisin is already exploring Puppyland, settling in beautifully, and showing us his sweet, affectionate personality. He loves to be held and snuggle close. While he’s still decompressing, he’s calm and content — clearly grateful to be safe. For now, Raisin is on medical hold while we begin his heartworm treatment, but we’ll keep everyone updated on his progress.
