We saw a Facebook post of a dog needing help in Coapinole, a neighborhood in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Many dogs in this area are living in poor conditions. What struck us about Fergus, was he was yet another dog covered in motor oil. He wasn’t, when someone initially saw him. Then the next day, he was. Fergus is our second rescue in a few weeks covered in motor oil. It’s unbelievable people in Mexico still believe motor oil will cure skin problems!! People even commenting they thought it would kill “the fungus” on him. News flash…it’s doesn’t work!!!!
We offered to help him so he was taken to our vet where he spent the night and is now safe at the shelter. Underweight, mange, erlichea and still one of the happiest boys we’ve met, especially after a little bath. He’s estimated to be 10 years old. And you know, we LOVE seniors. We’re pretty sure he had an owner at some point with how happy he is. Or maybe, he already feels the love and knows he will never have to suffer alone. Fergus does not seem to do well with other male dogs. We’d suggest a home with no other males. He is now healed and happy and ready for a home!
